What are some fun things to see and do with family members in Seattle?
Two tried-and-true attractions that delight people of all ages include the Woodland Park Zoo and the Seattle Aquarium.
The Woodland Park Zoo features the new Banyan Wilds with Malayan tigers, sloth bears and Asian small-clawed otters. Visitors also enjoy the Tropical Rain Forest featuring jaguars and free-flying birds. With nearly 1,100 animals representing almost 300 different animal species, families are fascinated with all there is to see at one of the world’s finest zoos. It’s open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Aquarium, the ninth largest aquarium in the U.S. by attendance and among the top five paid visitor attractions in the Puget Sound region, hosts six major exhibits: Window on Washington Waters, Life on the Edge, Pacific Coral Reef, Underwater Dome, Birds & Shores and Marine Mammals. If you’ve ever wanted to see sea otters and harbor seals up close, this is the place to do so. It’s open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition to the zoo and aquarium, family fun attractions around Seattle include Vertical World, Puget Sound’s premiere rock climbing, fitness, bootcamp and yoga destination, as well as iFLY Seattle, an indoor skydiving attraction.
Finally, there’s Sandbox Sports, which features indoor and outdoor volleyball as well as an indoor sandbox for “Lil Diggers Playtime.” While the kids happily run free and dig up the indoor sandbox, adults can relax and have a nice chat with other parents.
